WALTHAM, Mass. – (April 26, 2023) – Evolv Technology (NASDAQ: EVLV), the leader in AI- based weapons detection security screening, today announced its partnership with Major League Soccer’s Colorado Rapids. 

The Rapids will feature Evolv’s state-of-the-art Evolv Express® screening solution at the entrances to DICK’S Sporting Goods Park, the team’s home in Commerce City, Colorado, allowing for a faster, safer and better security experience at Rapids games this season.

The Rapids and DICK’S Sporting Goods Park join the Rams and SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles as Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE) properties using Evolv.

(April 24, 2023) – Evolv Technology (NASDAQ: EVLV), the leader in AI-based weapons detection security screening, today announced its partnership with the Pittsburgh Pirates, adding to the growing list of Pittsburg venues partnering with Evolv to help keep people safe, including the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and Acrisure Stadium, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers. 

When the Pirates opened the gates at PNC Park for the 2023 Major League Baseball season, all attending fans passed through Evolv’s state-of-the-art Evolv Express® screening solution. Evolv Express uses powerful sensor technology with artificial intelligence (AI) to provide safer, more accurate threat detection at unprecedented volume and speed. Fans can now walk through without always having to stop or open bags, reducing long lines and allowing guests to make their way directly into the ballpark.

The Pirates’ home opener took place on Friday, April 7, against the Chicago White Sox. Pirates fans will now experience a seamless entry as they pass through Evolv’s systems, which allow security personnel to differentiate between threats and the everyday objects people carry in their pockets and bags such as cell phone or keys.

Evolv Named Official Fan Screening Provider of the Mets as Presence at Ballpark Grows

Citi Field has already featured Evolv’s state-of-the-art Evolv Express® screening solution at its busiest gates since 2021. Beginning on April 6th for the Mets home opener against the Marlins, usage of the Evolv Express security screeners was expanded to welcome fans at all major points of entry. Gun Violence in America: A Survey on Americans’ Anxiety

In November 2021, we launched our inaugural report to look at the impact gun violence has on Americans’ lives. We wanted to understand whether a shooting at a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado impacted someone on the other side of the country; to measure Americans’ collective anxiety around the pervasive gun violence; and to determine whether gun violence is on people’s minds when they perform everyday tasks, like going to the grocery store. While we expected a certain level of anxiety, the numbers that came back shocked us. But twelve months later, our second-annual report paints an even bleaker picture, one of a citizenry that is exhausted and frustrated, and willing to alter their behavior in order to create safer places. Our neighbors and fellow citizens want to be safe when they go to the grocery store, to see a movie, visit a theme park and go to school.

  • Of the Americans who own a gun and report carrying it with them, two-thirds say they are doing so more today than in 2021.
  • 36% of Americans believe they (or someone they love) are extremely/likely to encounter an active shooter in their lifetime. That is up from 29% in 2021.
  • A large majority of Americans – 88% – believe their chances of encountering an active shooter have increased in 2022.
  • Nearly 3 out of 10 Americans have thought about moving out of fear of gun violence against themselves or their family. This is up from 12% in 2021.

America’s gun violence is taking a significant toll on educators

For this year’s report, in addition to the general population, we collected insights from educators in an effort to understand how the nation’s gun violence is impacting them. The results are sobering and reveal the significant toll it is taking on our teachers.

  • 1 in 3 educators report that they have experienced a shooting at work/in a school setting, and 51% believe they are likely or extremely likely to encounter an active shooting at work in their lifetime.
  • Nearly 4 in 10 teachers report they are considering looking for another job because they don’t feel safe at work. Of those, 82% would like to change jobs within the next six months.
  • 26% have been threatened directly by at least one of their students.
  • 3 out of 10 educators say they have to take more mental health breaks in order to cope with their increased levels of anxiety.

Our director of education and former assistant superintendent of safety and school operations for Oxford Community Schools, Jill Lemond, said:

“These findings highlight a need for us, as a country, to do better for our educators. Unfortunately, we haven’t equipped schools to deal with the anxiety, fear, and trauma students are bringing into the classroom. As a result, those on the frontlines – most of whom haven’t been trained in mental health – are bearing the burden of this national crisis. We are asking too much of them, and this research reveals the toll that is taking.”

As a father whose daughter walks into a school building every day to teach second graders, these findings hit very close to home. We need to recognize that a nation without healthy, happy and supported teachers cannot be a place where new ideas thrive and innovation is cultivated.

While this year’s report does not offer a solution, it does help us understand the toll gun violence is taking on all Americans, not just those who have been directly affected by it. It is my hope that with this better understanding, we can begin to work together to find solutions that reduce the amount of violence, lower Americans’ anxiety and retain the freedoms and liberties we have come to love in this country.

Mattress Company Uses Evolv’s Screening Solution to Create a Safer Workplace for Employees  

 

WALTHAM, Mass. – (April 18, 2023) – Evolv Technology (NASDAQ: EVLV), the leader in AI- based weapons detection security screening, today announced its partnership with Purple Innovation, a mattress company with factories in Georgia and Utah. 

Purple is using Evolv’s state-of-the-art Evolv Express® screening solution at its factory in Georgia, with plans to bring the technology to its facilities in Utah soon. Evolv Express uses powerful sensor technology with artificial intelligence (AI) to provide safer, more accurate threat detection at unprecedented volume and speed. For Purple, that means employees can be safer at work without a time-consuming entry process during a shift change that can involve a few hundred people coming in at the same time.  

“This is Purple going above and beyond to keep employees safe,” said Heather Beasley, Purple’s security manager. “If just the presence of Evolv prevents people from bringing in weapons, that’s what we want. People should be able to focus on their job while they’re here, and Evolv allows them to have a sense of security while they’re working.” 

Representatives from Purple experienced how easy Evolv could be when they attended an event at an Ohio stadium. When they saw how people could walk straight through without always stopping for individual checks, they knew Evolv was perfect for their facilities. In a manufacturing workplace, many items are needed for production that might be considered weapons in other work environments. Evolv’s AI learns which items are appropriate for Purple’s workplace that might set off an alarm somewhere else.

Purple, the Iconic Mattress Innovator and Manufacturer, Helps Employees Sleep Better at Night with Evolv Technology

During her search for a new weapons screening solution, Heather Beasley, Security Manager at Purple, knew that she had to find technology that contributed to a safer environment without impacting warehouse ingress. Workers aren’t willing to stand in line for security screening, as only once they pass through security can they clock in for their shift. Being deemed late for your shift as a result of inefficient and slow security screening, and possibly having pay docked as a result, was not something workers were willing to accept. With Evolv, Beasley is able to foster a safer working environment while ensuring that no employee is late clocking into their shift because of security. Through implementing our systems, Purple was able to achieve the following and more:  

  • Screened over 300 employees during shift changes in approximately five minutes

A Note from Our Founders

Reflecting on ten years since the Boston Marathon bombing, we think about the work we have done together and what lies ahead.  In 2011 and 2012, we were actively searching for new technology that could transform an industry.  The Sandy Hook tragedy on December 14, 2012 was followed by 52 more mass shootings over 122 days, leading up to the Boston Marathon bombing on April 15, 2013.  It became clear to both of us that there was a bigger need for technology that could address this new and evolving epidemic. 

We started Evolv to develop products that could help reduce the risk for these catastrophic headline events.  Our founding principle was that any successful solution had to detect the weapons that were actually being used while allowing people to continue to live at ‘the pace of life’.  This meant not always having to stop, remove personal items or create traditional checkpoints.  It took us six years to develop and start deploying technology that could meet this need. Since the Express was launched in September 2019, we have screened over 700 million, helping keep them safer from harm. 

Unfortunately, ten years later the U.S. has more mass shootings, and gun violence continues to rage. Over the 106 days this year there have been 163 mass shootings taking 228 lives and 4,511 additional lives were lost to gun violence. Over 44 people each day. Our work is just getting started. 

As we continue to drive forward, developing new products, building and deploying our technology, spreading the word to help protect more places, and ensuring that Evolv can do this day in and day out, we thank our team of dedicated employees and partners who work every day to help make the world a safer place. WALTHAM, Mass. – (April 13, 2023) – Evolv Technology (NASDAQ: EVLV), the leader in AI-based weapons detection security screening, today announced its partnership with the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. 

 The Wells Fargo Center will feature Evolv’s state-of-the-art Evolv Express® screening solution for Flyers games as well as concerts and other touring events at the arena, allowing fans to pass through security in a faster, easier and more welcoming manner. Officials at the Wells Fargo Center learned about Evolv having seen it used at other facilities in different sports leagues. Wells Fargo Center is now the third professional sports venue in Philadelphia to partner with Evolv to enhance their visitor security screening experience. Evolv is the fan screening provider for dozens of sports teams around the country in the NFL, MLB, NHL and MLS.   

 “Everything we’ve heard from our peers partnering with Evolv has been positive, from how easy it is to use to how pleased fans are with the experience,” said Valerie Camillo, President and CEO of Spectacor Sports and Entertainment. “When the National Hockey League gave us the go-ahead to find a better way of screening as many as 20,000 fans per game, the choice for us was clearly Evolv.” 

 According to Wells Fargo’s security team, early returns have been positive, with Evolv setting off fewer alarms than security officials experienced with traditional magnetometers. Evolv Express uses powerful sensor technology with artificial intelligence (AI) to provide safer, more accurate threat detection at unprecedented volume and speed. It quickly distinguishes between threats and the everyday items, so people do not need to always empty pockets and bags. As a result, most fans make their way directly into the arena without having to stop at security. Wells Fargo Center began using Evolv at Flyers hockey games in mid-February.

Among the many ballparks and stadiums in the sports world using Evolv’s technology are Major League Baseball’s PNC Park in Pittsburgh, the National Football League’s SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, and Lower.com Field in Columbus, Ohio from Major League Soccer.
