Customer Testing of Evolv Guides Purchase Decisions as Millions Enjoy a Better Security Experience

WALTHAM, Mass. (March 13, 2024) – With Major League Baseball’s (MLB) Opening Day around the corner, 10 MLB teams are gearing up to welcome millions of fans with the help of security screening by Evolv (NASDAQ: EVLV), the leading security technology company pioneering AI-based screening to create safer experiences.

Evolv’s Express® is an award-winning weapons detection system that uses sensor technology combined with artificial intelligence to help differentiate between weapons and non-threatening metal objects people commonly carry. Since the launch of Evolv Express in 2019, Evolv has screened more than 1 billion people in hundreds of venues around the world.

When considering new technology, many Evolv customers rely on real-world performance metrics, testimonials and information obtained from other users in their respective industries, and often their own testing of Evolv Express, to guide their purchase decisions.

“We do a lot of innovation,” said Dave Horsman, vice president of Ballpark Operations for the Minnesota Twins, who partnered with Evolv over a year ago for security screening. “But for something directly impacting guest experience and safety like security screening, we wanted to thoroughly test it and achieve a high level of certainty of success.”

Accordingly, Horsman and team spent a week at another venue that had Express systems in place while learning about Evolv.

“I was able to see firsthand how well the system works and was very impressed. We were able to see how it performs in other MLB parks—which provided some really good validation for us.”

In addition, the team did their own testing of the Evolv Express system to further validate it was the right addition to their safety plan.

“We did our homework and did extensive testing over the offseason—testing to see if it would detect objects it should detect and not detect the ones we didn’t want to detect. We were really impressed with the results and decided to move forward.”

A year later since implementing Evolv Express, Horsman still recounts the Twin’s Opening Day as the moment that stands out the most in his mind.

“We were in the security ingress area when the National Anthem played,” he recalls. “Normally, with the metal detectors, we would still have lines of fans trying to get into the park. But when I looked up after the National Anthem was finished, there were no lines. I knew then that we had made the right decision.”

Evolv’s business-to-business buyers, many of whom are themselves security experts and/or engage third-party experts, represent over 700 customers across education, healthcare, professional sports, industrial workplaces, houses of worship and tourist attractions. This includes some of the country’s top brands and school districts, such as Mercedes-Benz Stadium, SoFi Stadium and YouTube Theater, Six Flags, TD Garden, Fenway Park and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Public Schools.

In 2023, Evolv detected over 400,000 weapons, including firearms and knives.

Sporting Kansas City Kicks Off Season With Evolv Technology

MLS Club Enhances Weapons Detection at Children’s Mercy Park

WALTHAM, Mass. (March 12, 2024) – Evolv Technology (NASDAQ: EVLV), the leading security technology company pioneering AI-based screening to create safer experiences, today announced its partnership with Sporting Kansas City. The Major League Soccer team is using Evolv Express® for weapons detection at Children’s Mercy Park in Kansas City, Kansas.

Sporting KC has Express systems screening all fans entering Children’s Mercy Park, which welcomes more than 20,000 fans for soccer games. The Express systems were installed in February ahead of the team’s 2024 home opener.

Evolv Express uses advanced sensor technology and AI to differentiate between potential threats and the kinds of metal objects people commonly carry such as keys and sunglasses. It allows fans to move through the entrances more quickly than with traditional metal detectors, which Sporting KC used up until this year.

“We saw across Major League Soccer how pleased fans are with the ingress process provided by Evolv,” said Dan Lolli, chief operating officer for Sporting KC. “We are constantly working to improve the fan experience at Children’s Mercy Park, and Evolv is a key component in enhancing the very first interaction fans have with our property on a match day while also increasing their safety.”

Sporting KC hosted the 2023 MLS Operations Meetings, which provided an opportunity to see Express in action. Testimonials from peer organizations that use Express were also a factor in the team’s decision to purchase the technology. In addition to Evolv’s MLS presence, a number of hospitals in the Kansas City area have successfully partnered with Evolv for weapons detection.

“There’s a championship vibe in Kansas City right now on the heels of the Super Bowl, and KC sports fans expect a preeminent experience from their teams on and off the field,” said John Baier, vice president of sports for Evolv Technology. “Sporting KC is committed to the safety and security of all guests, and fans will be delighted with a speedy and seamless entry when attending home matches this season.”

Since the launch of Evolv Express in 2019, Evolv has screened more than 1 billion people. Sports facilities across the United States and around the world partner with Evolv for an improved weapons detection experience, including 10 MLS teams and several of the venues that will host World Cup games in 2026. In addition to stadiums and arenas, Evolv’s technology can be found in leading theme parks, performing arts centers, casinos, schools, hospitals and places of worship.

Evolv Technology Rejects IPVM’s Deceptive and Dangerous Articles

WALTHAM, Mass. (March 11, 2024) – Evolv Technology (NASDAQ: EVLV), the leading security technology company pioneering AI-based weapons detection to create safer experiences, today published this open letter to publication IPVM addressing concerns that IPVM’s continuous stream of articles on the Company is not only deceptive, but could pose a danger to the public.

Since 2021, IPVM has published approximately 100 articles featuring or referencing Evolv, which are almost uniformly negative in tone. During that same timeframe, Evolv has noted that IPVM seems to have focused less on other companies in the weapons detection industry. Evolv has concerns about IPVM’s inaccurate and misleading coverage. Evolv is also concerned about the public safety implications of IPVM’s distorted coverage and release of sensitive security information (SSI), which can potentially provide a roadmap to bad actors on how to circumvent a security system. Evolv’s position is that IPVM is not only biased towards the selective use of misinformation, but also does not reflect subject matter expertise in the physical security industry or advance public safety priorities.

The Evolv standard of excellence is consistently tested through its broad client base and expectations of its Security Advisory Board. The Board includes senior leaders who have served at the highest levels of their profession in national security, law enforcement and the United States military. The Security Advisory Board has carefully examined IPVM statements regarding Evolv Technology systems and concludes that IPVM has consistently misrepresented product effectiveness and is irresponsible in their reporting. Their statement is here.

As the following example demonstrates, history is filled with examples of how bad actors seek out and exploit sensitive information about security systems they must confront.

“We saw this in the real world on Christmas day 2009, when Al-Qaeda sent Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab from Brussels to Detroit with a hidden non-metallic IED. They knew that there was no detection for non-metallic bombs in most airport security protocols, and discovered this vulnerability through online research,” said John Pistole, former United States deputy director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

IPVM motives in targeting Evolv are unknown, but clearly not designed to serve public safety. IPVM operates an unregulated fee-based subscription service. The initial focus of the firm was on the well-established video surveillance market. The founder of the firm has publicly stated that he has little concern for certifications as a qualification to opining on the products and markets reviewed by IPVM. More recently, IPVM has partnered with a subscription-based news service (with a documented history of covering short targets) to discuss Evolv.

Evolv has identified instances of IPVM false or misleading reporting:

  • On March 5, 2024, IPVM reported that Evolv “supports missing guns” in apparent reference to the security settings of the Evolv Express®. This is objectively false. Nearly all mainstream physical security technology operates within a scale of sensitivity settings, including traditional walkthrough metal detectors. Missing weapons is not the same as selecting a sensitivity setting that is designed to alert on certain weapons (per a venue’s operational standards and security protocols).
  • On January 11, 2022, IPVM indicated that Evolv is just a metal detector. This is objectively false.  As a general matter, traditional metal detectors are only capable of detecting metal and, unlike the Evolv Express, lack the ability to distinguish personal items that contain metal from a wide variety of weapons, nor can they visually pinpoint on the body where there is a potential threat.
  • IPVM has chosen not to report on numerous cases where weapons have passed through security systems manufactured by other companies. However, IPVM has deceptively associated Evolv’s system with weapon violations that law enforcement and customers have said publicly did not pass through Evolv’s system.
  • IPVM has publicly called into question the credibility and expertise of industry-acknowledged security experts to advance its own misguided theories, which are at odds with recognized industry best practices.

Key Facts:

  • Evolv’s more than 700 customers have access to the details of our systems’ performance capabilities, including what they can and cannot do and their ability to tailor sensitivity settings based on their environment’s unique needs.
  • This information is critical for security professionals to make informed operational decisions and is not for public consumption for the reasons stated above.
  • Security screening systems, including traditional metal detectors, have sensitivity settings and security professionals, whether responsible for a stadium, airport, courthouse, school or hospital, typically determine how to utilize those settings to achieve the balance of visitor experience with enhanced safety specific to the venue. Sensitivity settings are not unique to Evolv Express.
  • Evolv’s customers, which include the world’s leading theme parks, stadiums, arenas and performing arts centers, rely on real-world performance metrics and/or their own testing of Evolv Express, testimonials and research on the system’s effectiveness obtained from other users in their respective industries guide their decisions to buy, deploy and utilize the system as part of their overall security plan.
  • Evolv Express is an award-winning technology, most recently honored as the “Best in Sports Technology” and “Best in Fan Experience Technology” by Sports Business Journal.
  • Evolv’s Net Promoter Score (NPS), which measures customer loyalty by looking at their likelihood of recommending a given business, has been consistently on average 60+ on a scale of -100 to +100 since the Fall of 2021.

We are pleased that it is our customers who have been and will remain the final arbiters of Evolv’s performance. Those interested in learning more about advanced weapons detection technology are best served by speaking with venue operators who have vetted and used the systems, as well as security professionals who have spent their careers protecting the public, rather than relying on unregulated fee-based subscription service publications with unbalanced reporting,  questionable motives, and little qualifications to conduct product reviews.

Evolv has declined to speak with IPVM “reporters” until such time as IPVM begins to practice fair and objective journalism with the same transparency and ethics they demand of their targets. Without this, IPVM will continue to be no better than a tabloid publication.

Evolv Security Advisory Board Believes Disclosure of Sensitive Information Compromises Public Safety

It has come to our understanding that IPVM, a publication which has historically covered video cameras, continues to promote details of Evolv Express® weapons detection systems. It is our belief that IPVM’s reporting in this matter is irresponsible, and ultimately, could compromise sensitive operating procedures resulting in increased risk to those entering venues we are committed to protecting.

The need to provide transparency in physical security without helping potential attackers and bad actors exploit sensitive information is a fundamental paradox of the security industry. It is an especially careful balance when introducing new security technology, such as AI-based weapons detection, to the mainstream.

As security professionals who have spent our decades-long careers serving the U.S. in national security, law enforcement and military organizations, we understand and respect transparency and dissemination of sensitive information with those essential to know as a tenant to keeping the public safe.

When it comes to the sensitive operational details of physical security systems, including their capabilities and performance characteristics, essential personnel are those who require access to conduct their official duties. This typically relates to those performing security or intelligence roles. Protecting methods and means is a fundamental best practice of any security or intelligence organization.

Evolv is very transparent with their customers and vendors who have a need to know, however, to widely disseminate this sensitive information will undoubtedly have the unintended consequence of providing information to those intent upon exploiting any and all security systems.

The safety of the general public is our primary duty as advisors and national security leaders.

Melbourne Cricket Club Takes Evolv Technology Down Under

Evolv and Convergint Partner with Sports Club on First Australian Deployment, Provide A Superior Screening Experience at Melbourne Cricket Ground

WALTHAM, Mass. – (March 6, 2024) – Evolv Technology (NASDAQ: EVLV), the leading security technology company pioneering AI-based screening to create safer experiences, today announced its partnership with Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC), the largest – and one of the oldest – sports clubs in Australia. Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) recently hosted the Taylor Swift Era’s Tour partnering with Evolv to help keep nearly 300,000 fans safe.

The partnership marks the first deployment of Evolv Express®, a detection screening system, in the country. It is also the largest single-stadium deployment of Express outside of the United States. Managed by Melbourne Cricket Club, Melbourne Cricket Ground is a sports stadium in Yarra Park, Melbourne, Victoria. The stadium will use Express systems to screen fans at all of its entry gates.

Melbourne Cricket Club was introduced to Evolv by Convergint, which supplies Melbourne Cricket Ground with its other security technology. Evolv Express uses sensors combined with AI to differentiate between weapons and common metals people carry. At Melbourne Cricket Ground, Express will be integrated with Convergint’s video management system.

“We were looking for a more efficient entry experience for guests coming to the Melbourne Cricket Ground,” said Rey Sumaru, general manager of IT & innovation for the Melbourne Cricket Club. “The technology from Evolv has provided us with a more streamlined entry experience – helping minimise time spent in queues lines for fans, while still providing the safest environment possible.”

“There’s usually a large number of fans approaching the gates at the same time, about 15-to-30 minutes before an event,” said Nick Robertson, general manager, Convergint Australia. “There’s really only one solution that can handle that amount of people in such a short time, and that’s Express.”

Club leadership was made aware of Express through Convergint prior to seeing Express in action at SoFi Stadium, home of the Los Angeles Chargers and Los Angeles Rams, earlier last year. Following the visit, Evolv and Convergint worked quickly to have Express in use at Melbourne Cricket Ground by the end of 2023.

“Evolv is creating a safer world for people to work, learn, and play, and the work we have done alongside Convergint to bring Evolv to a new country – a new continent! – helps us reach even more people worldwide,” said Peter George, CEO of Evolv Technology.

Since the launch of Express, Evolv has screened more than 1 billion people. Melbourne Cricket Club joins a growing list of teams and sports facilities around the world using Evolv for weapons detection as part of their safety posture, from AO Arena in Manchester, England, to stadiums and arenas across the United States in Major League Baseball, the NFL, NHL, NBA, and MLS. Evolv’s technology can also be found in leading theme parks, performing arts centers, casinos and arenas in addition to hundreds of schools, hospitals and places of worship. Evolv is committed to making the world a safer place to live, learn, work and play.

Evolv Technology and Footprint Center Announce Partnership

Arizona’s NBA arena to use Evolv’s AI-based weapons detection

WALTHAM, Mass. – (March 5, 2024) – Evolv Technology (NASDAQ: EVLV), the leading security technology company pioneering AI-based weapons detection to create safer experiences, today announced a partnership with Footprint Center to use its state-of-the-art Evolv Express® screening solution.

“We are excited to partner with Footprint Center to achieve a more sophisticated security posture and elevated fan experience,” said John Baier, Evolv’s vice president of sports. “Now fans can experience that same level of performance off the court as they enter the arena.”

Evolv Express will enhance the arena’s overall security program by using powerful sensor technology with AI to provide safer, more accurate threat detection at increased volume and speed. The systems, which are at every arena entrance for every event, will help reduce lines and allow fans to seamlessly flow through security for a quicker, more efficient entry process. Fans can walk through the systems without always being individually checked by wands or metal detectors, reducing the kinds of backups that cause bottlenecks at ingress points. Evolv Express works to differentiate between threats and the everyday metal items people carry in their pockets.

Footprint Center, home of the Phoenix Suns and Phoenix Mercury, is one of the first NBA arenas to use Evolv Technology, integrated during the start of the 2023-24 season.

Footprint Center joins a growing roster of facilities and sports teams using Evolv Technology for weapons detection. Facilities in Major League Baseball, Major League Soccer, the NFL, and the NHL all use Evolv to screen fans, including some of the venues scheduled to host soccer games in the 2026 World Cup.

FC Dallas To Open 2024 MLS Regular Season With Evolv Technology

Weapons Detection Tech Now Used By Texas MLS, MLB, NBA and NFL Teams

WALTHAM, Mass. – (February 22, 2024) – Evolv Technology (NASDAQ: EVLV), the leading security technology company pioneering AI-based screening to create safer experiences, today announced its partnership with Major League Soccer’s FC Dallas.

With the start of the FC Dallas regular season at Toyota Stadium this month, it will now use Evolv Express® systems to screen fans and staff at all of its entrances. Toyota Stadium can accommodate more than 19,000 fans, and Express allows fans to move through the entrances at pace. FC Dallas saw the success of Evolv at other facilities across MLS and switched to Express from metal detectors, which contributed to long lines and bottlenecks at entry.

Using sensor technology combined with artificial intelligence, Express can tell the difference between weapons and non-threatening metal objects people commonly carry. Toyota Stadium had the Express systems installed in December prior to hosting college football events including the Frisco Bowl and FCS National Championship.

“Increasingly, MLS decision makers – myself and my colleagues included – are strategizing about how to optimize the fan experience,” said Nick Shafer, vice president of stadium operations for FC Dallas and Toyota Stadium. “We had the opportunity to see the difference Evolv makes with the events in December, and we’re very excited to join other MLS and Texas teams that are using Express to enhance experience while upleveling safety.”

Since the launch of Express in 2019, Evolv has screened more than 1 billion people. Toyota Stadium is the latest in a rapidly growing list of MLS facilities using Evolv as part of their safety plans. FC Dallas joins St. Louis CITY SC, the New England Revolution, and the Columbus Crew, among others, using Express. In Texas, Evolv professional sports partners include the Houston Astros (MLB), Houston Texans (NFL), and Houston Rockets (NBA).

“It is incredibly fulfilling to have another MLS team bring in Evolv,” said Jay Muelhoefer, chief commercial officer for Evolv Technology. “The fact that teams recognize how Evolv is transforming the fan experience at other stadiums in the league is a testament to how truly impactful the technology is. We’re excited to partner with FC Dallas and help create a safer, more fan-friendly environment for another Texas team.”

DICK’S Sporting Goods Park Provides Rapid Security Screening with Evolv Technology

DICK’S Sporting Goods Park opened in 2007, providing a new, state-of-the-art home for the MLS’s Colorado Rapids and a great venue for other Denver events such as concerts. For several years, DICK’S Sporting Goods Park relied on walkthrough metal detectors to screen guests and employees for weapons as they entered the park. In early 2023, however, the Events team at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park and the Safety and Security team at Kroenke Sports and Entertainment, the Park’s parent company, embarked on a search to upgrade the technology underlying their security ingress. Their mission was to improve the experience of fans and guests while maintaining a high level of security.

At the top of the list of reasons the DICK’S and Kroenke teams turned to Evolv was the ability to provide security staff with a technology that would help them in their jobs. “With the walkthrough metal detectors, the technology did not aid our staff in doing their jobs at all,” McKenna explains. “With Evolv, the red box on the Evolv tablet tells them exactly where the potential threat is located on the person’s body or bag. It creates a frictionless process. Evolv supports them in doing their job. And when secondary screening is needed, the check for weapons is unintrusive; the interactions between security staff and our guests are much improved.”

By enabling the Evolv Express®, the Colorado Rapids were able to achieve the following:

  • Screened over 1,000 guests at one entrance in a 15-minute timeframe.
  • Reallocated between 8 and 10 security staff per entrance to other areas of the park.
  • Increased concession and merchandise sales.

Evolv Technology Corrects Misinformation about the Company

Waltham, Massachusetts – February 20, 2024 – Evolv Technology was founded in 2013 as a next-generation physical security company committed to making the world a safer place. Over a decade later, and with the trust of former leaders of the Central Intelligence Agency, Department of Homeland Security, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Department of Defense, New York Police Department, Office of National Intelligence, Transportation Security Administration, and United States Secret Service, the Company has partnered with hundreds of seasoned security professionals as valued customers. They have vetted and selected Evolv as part of their safety plans due to its performance attributes and track record of balancing accurate detection with a positive security experience for patrons – not because of any advertisement or marketing campaign. Many of these professionals test Evolv products in their operating environment before deployment. Evolv is proud to say that its Express® solution has been used to screen over 1 billion visitors, and is used to detect, on average, hundreds of firearms every day across its rapidly growing customer base.

Over the past year, Evolv believes it has been the target of a short seller campaign, coordinating with certain media outlets, who are incentivized to discredit the company, misrepresent facts, and promote misinformation. Short sellers essentially bet on, and profit from, a drop in a company’s share price.

The following outlines the main points these groups have raised and Evolv’s fact-based responses. Evolv is committed to our mission of making the world safer and stands behind our technology as vetted by hundreds of security professionals in real world environments.

Claim #1:  Evolv has not undergone any independent third-party testing.

Fact: Evolv undergoes rigorous internal and external testing and validation procedures that are implemented before, during, and after the procurement process. All of these third-party tests, conducted by third-party experts, concluded that the Evolv Express solution was highly effective at detecting firearms and many other types of weapons.

Examples of Third-Party Testing and/or expert evaluation [Designations]:

  • DHS SAFETY Act Designation as a Qualified Anti-Terrorism Technology
  • Highest NILECJ Standard Met
  • Metrix NDT Ltd commissioned by Evolv, tested and validated Evolv Express® against the NPSA’s Discriminative Metal Detection Standards.

Claim #2:  Evolv says it can catch all weapons.

Fact: Evolv states, and its customers know, that that there is no perfect security solution, including Evolv Express, that will stop all threats, all the time, and that a layered approach combining people, process and technology is necessary. Yet, they choose Evolv Express to help them meet some of their most demanding security requirements because among other things: (a) Evolv Express is highly effective at detecting firearms and other mass casualty weapons; (b) it has a high throughput rate; (c) its settings can be adjusted and optimized to meet a customer’s unique security screening requirements; and (d) the use of the Evolv Express solution can help reduce labor costs.

When Evolv Express alerts on a weapon, the system still requires human security operators to remove the potential threat from the environment. This is why Evolv works with customers to improve their overall security processes and shares best practices across our community. Evolv Express is a modern component of layered security to help reduce the risk of something bad happening.

Evolv has repeatedly said that keeping the public safe and mitigating risk requires tradeoffs; for example, higher sensitivity settings may slow down the screening process. Evolv is upfront about the tradeoffs and customers regularly call out this as a key source of trust in Evolv and across the Evolv customer community.

Evolv Express systems are designed to configure various levels of a security profile, which are selected by the customer, based on their specific needs and events. These security profiles and configurations vary widely across venue and experience type and are at the discretion of the customer’s security team, who often change settings hourly to recognize different threats; for example, a school morning ingress versus an evening sporting event.

Claim #3:  Evolv misleads the public and customers to sell systems.

Fact:  Evolv’s customers rely on real-world performance metrics, testimonials and information obtained from other users in their respective industries, and often their own testing of Evolv Express, to guide their purchase decisions.

Evolv works with some of the country’s top brands and school districts, such as Mercedes-Benz Stadium (home to the Atlanta Falcons and MLS’s Atlanta United), SoFi Stadium (home to the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers) and YouTube Theater, Six Flags, TD Garden (home of the NHL’s Boston Bruins and NBA’s Boston Celtics), and Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District.

Customers typically purchase Evolv Express only after engaging in testing, trials and procurement processes that can last months or longer, including speaking with other Evolv customers about their real-world usage of Evolv Express before purchase. Certain customers, such as teams and venues within the NFL, MLB and NHL, comply with mandatory procurement standards (e.g., government entities) or obtain third-party approvals (e.g., league approval for professional sports teams) before making a purchase. Many of our customers have extensive security backgrounds both in the private and governmental sectors from around the world.

Claim #4:  Evolv regularly misses weapons.

Fact:  Evolv detected 400,000 weapons in 2023, including firearms and knives.

Customers frequently report that the Evolv Express systems have stopped weapons from entering their environments.  That being said, nothing is perfect all the time. Evolv customers are keenly aware of the fact that safety is never absolute. Rather, Evolv customers balance safety needs with venue requirements (e.g., avoiding crowds or long lines at security checkpoints) which is not an either/or choice but a strategy that relies on a combination of people, processes and technology.

There have been circumstances where a firearm was found inside a customer’s venue but with no evidence that the weapon had passed through the Evolv Express system. However, certain media entities have perpetuated misinformation by implying otherwise.

Examples:

  • At a theme park, the police made an arrest and were investigating fence jumping, or items thrown over the fence, as possibilities of how a firearm entered the park. It was not reported or confirmed that a gun went through the Evolv Express system.
  • Similarly, in North Mecklenburg High School, school officials made public statements asserting that the student carrying a weapon did not go through an Evolv system.

Yet select news services are choosing to ignore these statements and instead mislead by stating “Evolv missed the gun” to fit their desired false narrative.

Claim #5:  Evolv can’t catch knives.

Fact:  Evolv Express was specifically designed to detect guns but will also alert on many types of knives and some explosives.

Evolv Express was purposefully designed to detect firearms and mass casualty weapons. That’s why customers come to Evolv as part of their layered security strategy. In fact, in many instances, such as in schools, knives are already present inside the venue for various reasons. Even so, according to customer reported data, Evolv Express systems detected over 80,000 knives in 2022 and over 200,000 knives in 2023.

Example:  Windsor Regional Hospital has reported over 1,100 items intercepted since the installation of the Express system, including detecting hundreds of knives.

Claim #6:  Evolv can’t back up its through-put claims.

Fact:  Throughput rates for Evolv Express have been repeatedly observed in data collected during real-world operations.

  • Customer Example 1, NFL Game, 2023 – a dual wide lane Express unit screened approximately 5,152 people in one hour, including the screening of 2,713 people in a twenty-minute period, with an alert rate of just 5%
  • Customer Example 2, MLB Game, 2023 – a dual wide lane Express unit screened approximately 5,746 people in one hour, including the screening of 2,291 people in a ten-minute period, with an alert rate of just 4%
  • Customer Example 3, NFL Game, 2023 – a dual wide lane Express unit screened approximately 5,461 people in one hour, including the screening of 1,407 people in a ten-minute period, with an alert rate of just 5%

In fact, Evolv systems are designed specifically to allow for venues to efficiently screen high volumes of people without impacting visitor experience. This is due to the localized threat detection (i.e., the red box that pinpoints an area of concern) which not only reduces the burden on security teams to identify threats but also reduces the soft target of long lines or crowds around checkpoints, as well as reducing the potential for human error and bias.

Claim #7:  Evolv paid for third-party testing and tried to manipulate the results.

Fact:  Evolv elected to participate in the NCS⁴ operational exercise, sponsored by the University of Southern Mississippi, to offer another data point for those considering the technology.  All companies must pay to participate in the exercise, which reviews security vendors in sports and entertainment venues.

By design, the NCS⁴ operational exercise program allows experts to observe technology capabilities in a sports environment. School customers test and/or review our systems in school environments.

The NCS⁴ operational exercise program has an associated fee for all manufacturers completing the process.

Contrary to misleading claims, Evolv did not change results of the third-party NCS⁴ report, and all customers and serious prospective customers are offered full access to the complete NCS⁴ testing report upon request.  In addition to providing access to the report, Evolv will also walk prospective customers through the complete NCS4 report (as well as other third-party testing reports) during a 90-minute briefing.

Claim #8:  Evolv shouldn’t use the terms “weapons detector” or “frictionless” because it is misleading.

FACT:  Customers invest in Evolv after carefully assessing the technology during procurement, including reviewing literature, receiving a demo or pilot, visiting and speaking with other customers, and all customers have an opportunity to conduct testing in their actual environment.

Evolv’s sophisticated business-to-business customers, many of whom are themselves security experts and/or engage third-party experts, purchase Evolv Express with the specific goal of helping to detect and deter threats like firearms that could cause a mass-casualty event. Evolv’s technology is deployed at over 650 customers across many markets including education, healthcare, professional sports, industrial workplaces, houses of worship and tourist attractions.
