Aultman Hospital Adds Layer of Safety with Evolv Technology

AI-Powered Weapons Detection Integrates With Hospital’s Genetec Technology

WALTHAM, Mass. – (July 19, 2023) – Evolv Technology (NASDAQ: EVLV), the leader in AI-based weapons detection security screening, today announced its partnership with Aultman Hospital in Ohio. The hospital will use Evolv’s state-of-the-art Evolv Express® screening solution at two high-traffic areas in the building.

Evolv Express uses powerful sensor technology with artificial intelligence (AI) to provide safer, more accurate threat detection at unprecedented volume and speed. Aultman Hospital, located in Canton, Ohio, will use two systems– one at its main entrance and another for its emergency department.

“We needed a weapons detection solution that wouldn’t impact people trying to get to work or to an appointment, and Evolv was the perfect answer,” said Darin B. Baad, security coordinator at Aultman Hospital. “Unfortunately, hospitals are facing increased levels of violence, and we need to take steps to protect our environment without stopping and checking every person individually as they walk in.”

Evolv Express allows people to move through security screening without having to always open bags or empty pockets, preventing backups at entrances. The technology distinguishes between threats and most everyday items people carry. According to Aultman Hospital, within the first ten hours of installing the new systems, a number of prohibited items were found, including a gun, a taser, and knives, and nurses and staff have praised the hospital for prioritizing safety.

Aultman procured its Evolv Express systems from Johnson Controls, an Evolv distribution partner. Evolv’s Genetec integration also allows the technology to work seamlessly with the other security measures Aultman Hospital has in place, including security cameras and access control.

“This is an exciting partnership because Aultman Hospital is the first to take advantage of Evolv’s Genetec integration capability,” said Jason Grellner, vice president, healthcare for Evolv. “More and more hospitals are looking to add weapons detection screening for their facilities, and we believe Evolv will help provide some peace of mind to patients, doctors, nurses, and hospital staff.”

Aultman Hospital joins a number of other healthcare facilities using Evolv as they strive to create a safer environment for patients, visitors and staff and respond to the growing concern healthcare workers face when it comes to workplace violence.

Clovis Municipal Schools Use Evolv for Threat Detection

Evolv’s AI-Powered Screening Solution Employed at New Mexico School District’s High School

WALTHAM, Mass. – (May 9, 2023) – Evolv Technology (NASDAQ: EVLV), the leader in AI-based weapons detection security screening, today announced its partnership with New Mexico’s Clovis Municipal Schools. The school system will use Evolv’s state-of-the-art Evolv Express® screening solution at its schools.

Evolv Express uses powerful sensor technology with artificial intelligence (AI) to provide safer, more accurate threat detection at unprecedented volume and speed. Clovis Schools will use Evolv to screen students, staff, and visitors as they enter.

“With gun violence on the rise nationwide, we felt we needed to take a proactive step to keep our students and staff safer,” said Loran Hill, senior director of operations for Clovis Municipal Schools. “Evolv gives us the security we need, and since it can tell the difference between threats and most of the everyday items people bring into school, our students’ routines won’t change when they come to school, keeping anxiety levels low and the focus on education.”

Students, staff, and visitors are able to walk through the Evolv Express unit every morning without always having to be individually checked unless something is detected. Clovis Municipal Schools has two Evolv Express systems. In addition to the indoor system that will be used at schools, they have another outdoor one that can be used to help secure school and community events.

“One of the guiding principles for Clovis High School is that all site decisions are based on the academic, social, and emotional needs of the students as well as their physical safety,” said Neil Sandhoff, Evolv’s Vice President of Education. “In that way Clovis is an ideal partner for Evolv. We hear from schools we work with that Evolv allows for peace of mind and a sense of security for a school community, allowing for students to have the best atmosphere in which they can succeed.”

Clovis Municipal Schools joins a number of other school districts across the country partnering with Evolv. Atlanta Public Schools, Nebraska’s Winnebago Public Schools, and Spartanburg School District Six in South Carolina, among others, have all reported experiencing a more efficient screening process with safer school environments since installing Evolv.

Evolv Technology Brings Public Safety Leaders Together to Talk Tech

Panel on Innovations in Public Safety took place at the 2023 National Action Network Conference

Waltham, MA (May 4, 2023) — Evolv Technology (NASDAQ: EVLV), the leader in AI-based weapons detection security screening, hosted a panel discussion last month at the 2023 National Action Network Conference (NAN) in New York City. NAN is one of the leading civil rights organizations in the Nation with chapters throughout the United States. This year’s conference attracted thousands of public safety leaders from around the country to discuss the state of civil rights during this vital time in America.

The panel discussion, titled “Innovations in Public Safety – Balancing Security, and Freedom” was moderated by Evolv co-founder Anil Chitkara and featured:

  • Janelle Bradshaw, CEO, Public Prep Network
  • Matthew Fraser, chief technology officer, City of New York
  • The Honorable Michael A. Nutter, 98th Mayor, Philadelphia, PA
  • Rev. Charles Williams, president, Michigan Chapter, National Action Network

The discussion explored various perspectives on how leaders can best use and pilot new technologies to enhance public safety. This included the conversations around the critical importance of community engagement, ensuring potential solutions maximize respect for the citizens’ rights, balancing new approaches with community needs, and understanding role that the appropriate security measures play in reducing anxiety and keeping students and teachers focused on learning.

“Let’s use the technology. Let’s be mindful of what it can do, what it can’t do, the limitations. People have rights and all the things that go with it. The technology and the world keep evolving,” said Mayor Nutter.

“Gun violence is a plague in America that disproportionately impacts communities of color and is now the top cause of death for children under 18 of all races.  While there is no single solution to this problem, we know that the traditional approaches alone have not gotten the job done. Therefore, we must be forward thinking, take advantage of technology and invest in new solutions to help protect our communities and our children,” said NAN founder & president, Rev. Al Sharpton. “NAN continues to convene thought leaders, such as this panel, as we do the work of identifying and evaluating new solutions to keep the places where our families gather to learn, work, and play safe.”

“As we consider what has worked and what can be improved upon in public safety, the central theme is to develop solutions that add layers of safety while balancing the needs and rights of the people we are trying to keep safe,” said Chitkara.

Former Tesla Product Leader Parag Vaish Tapped to Drive Digital Transformation at Evolv Technology

Waltham, MA (May 2, 2023) — Evolv Technology (NASDAQ: EVLV), the leader in AI-based weapons detection security screening, is pleased to announce the addition of Parag Vaish to the company’s executive team as chief digital product officer. Vaish brings an extensive background in technology, having led product innovation for Tesla, Microsoft, Google, Walt Disney Company and StubHub.

In his role, Vaish will report directly to Evolv Technology CEO Peter George to further drive Evolv’s leadership in the digital transformation of the physical security industry. Working closely with Evolv co-founder and chief innovation officer Mike Ellenbogen, Vaish will be responsible for developing new digital capabilities as products that will enhance the Evolv Express® screening system by deriving value from the company’s SaaS platform, as well as adding new, unique standalone capabilities to accelerate digital product offerings for Evolv’s prospects and customers.

“We are pleased to welcome Parag to Evolv,” said George. “We believe Parag’s expertise identifying revolutionary digital advances will be instrumental in helping us deliver more value to customers from our digital sensor platform, Evolv Express. There has never been a more important time for organizations and enterprises to leverage the most contemporary technology to help address the unprecedented epidemic of gun violence.”

“As we approach Evolv’s 10-year anniversary, the epidemic of gun violence has become even more pervasive than when we started the company.  We are constantly looking for new innovative ways to create safer zones. Parag brings an impressive track record of identifying value added digital solutions that we believe will enable us to expand and augment the ways we can help make the world safer in the places we live, work, learn and play,” said Ellenbogen.

Evolv’s state-of-the-art Evolv Express screening solution uses powerful sensor technology with artificial intelligence (AI) to provide safer, more accurate threat detection at unprecedented volume and speed. It instantly distinguishes between threats and the everyday items, so people do not need to always empty pockets and bags. Unlike traditional metal detectors or their upgraded versions, the system allows integration from Evolv Express to numerous security endpoints, such as video management systems (VMS), video analytics, incident management systems and mass notification systems, all used in a multi-layered security approach intended to keep out adversaries and mitigate as much risk as possible.

“There is an important opportunity to amplify the value Evolv’s AI and machine learning is providing venues today for better safety and experience,” said Vaish. “I have spent my career applying digital innovations to enhance the way we interact with the world – working with Tesla to synergize solar and vehicle through digital products; during my time at Disney to digitally enhance guest experiences; and at Google to build a comprehensive data product to understand consumer trends on a geo-specific basis. It is critically important that we can all move through life feeling safe, with peace of mind. As a father, Evolv’s mission could not be more important to me personally. I believe Evolv is uniquely positioned to leverage its technology to help make the world a safer place and I am compelled to help work to advance our mission.”

Evolv Express weapons detection systems, which screen approximately one million people per day, are currently deployed at over 500 customer venues worldwide, including leading theme parks, sports stadiums, arenas, performing arts centers, industrial workplaces, hospitals, and schools.

Colorado Rapids Partner With Evolv For Fan Screening in 2023

DICK’S Sporting Goods Park joins KSE’s SoFi Stadium in using Evolv to screen fans

WALTHAM, Mass. – (April 26, 2023) – Evolv Technology (NASDAQ: EVLV), the leader in AI- based weapons detection security screening, today announced its partnership with Major League Soccer’s Colorado Rapids.

The Rapids will feature Evolv’s state-of-the-art Evolv Express® screening solution at the entrances to DICK’S Sporting Goods Park, the team’s home in Commerce City, Colorado, allowing for a faster, safer and better security experience at Rapids games this season.

“The fans are such an important part of Rapids home games,” said Austin McKenna, executive director of security & safety for Kroenke Sports & Entertainment. “To be able to improve their experience with Evolv, getting them through the gates in a more efficient manner all while improving security, it’s a way of showing how much we appreciate them and want to take care of them.”

Evolv Express uses powerful sensor technology with artificial intelligence (AI) to provide more accurate threat detection at unprecedented volume and speed. It allows security officials to tell the difference between weapons and the everyday items people carry in their pockets and bags such as cell phone and keys. That means fans at 18,000-seat DICK’S Sporting Goods Park can walk in without always having to wait for security officials to wand everyone individually or go through bags one by one.

The Rapids and DICK’S Sporting Goods Park join the Rams and SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles as Kroenke Sports & Entertainment (KSE) properties using Evolv.

“MLS fans are enthusiastic about their teams, and the Rapids fans are no different,” said John Baier, Evolv’s vice president of sports. “Evolv lets them carry that excitement from pregame directly into game time. We are excited to further grow our footprint in the KSE family and work to help keep Rapids fans safer.”

Half the teams in Major League Soccer are Evolv partners as the 2023 season kicks off. Other facilities using Evolv technology include venues that will be hosting games in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia and Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts, in addition to KSE’s SoFi Stadium.

Evolv Technology® and Pittsburgh Pirates Team Up for Fan-Friendly Ballpark Security

Evolv Declared the Team’s Official Fan Screening Provider

WALTHAM, Mass. (April 24, 2023) – Evolv Technology (NASDAQ: EVLV), the leader in AI-based weapons detection security screening, today announced its partnership with the Pittsburgh Pirates, adding to the growing list of Pittsburg venues partnering with Evolv to help keep people safe, including the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and Acrisure Stadium, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

When the Pirates opened the gates at PNC Park for the 2023 Major League Baseball season, all attending fans passed through Evolv’s state-of-the-art Evolv Express® screening solution. Evolv Express uses powerful sensor technology with artificial intelligence (AI) to provide safer, more accurate threat detection at unprecedented volume and speed. Fans can now walk through without always having to stop or open bags, reducing long lines and allowing guests to make their way directly into the ballpark.

“What continues to make PNC Park so special, aside from the physical design, is the total fan experience. That begins from the moment they walk up to our gates” said Travis Williams, Pirates president. “The new Evolv system is a massive improvement over the former metal detector systems.  In testing last year, the system is a game-changer for entry experience. Gone are the days of our fans lining up to wait to be screened, solving what has been a point of complaint in the past when talking with our fans.”

The Pirates’ home opener took place on Friday, April 7, against the Chicago White Sox. Pirates fans will now experience a seamless entry as they pass through Evolv’s systems, which allow security personnel to differentiate between threats and the everyday objects people carry in their pockets and bags such as cell phone or keys.

“From its old-time ballpark feel to the amazing sightlines it offers as a backdrop, PNC Park is one of the most beautiful places to watch a game in all of sports,” said John Baier, Evolv’s vice president of sports. “We’re proud to be a part of the amazing experience at PNC Park, helping to keep fans safer without sacrificing one bit of what makes going to a Pirates game so enjoyable.”

The Pirates are part of a growing roster of sports teams and facilities partnering with Evolv to provide a safer fan experience. PNC Park joins venues coast to coast, from SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, California, to Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Massachusetts, using Evolv Express.  More and more schools, hospitals, theme parks, industrial work spaces and places of worship also continue to add Evolv systems into their layered approach to security to create safer, faster and better screening experiences for all.
